Commercial Specialty Chemicals & Decontaminants

Q: What is the difference between a bare brick and a sensitive surface graffiti remover?

Bare Brick/Masonry Removers are highly aggressive, often utilizing strong solvents and alkalis to draw deep-set paint out of porous concrete and stone. Sensitive Surface Removers are precisely formulated to break the chemical bond of the graffiti ink without melting or stripping the underlying factory paint, perspex, or reflective coating on street signs.

Q: What is Actichem Percide used for?

Actichem Percide is a highly advanced, TGA-listed decontaminant and mouldicide. It utilizes an accelerated hydrogen peroxide formula to aggressively destroy mould spores, bacteria, and viruses upon contact. It is heavily relied upon by professional restoration contractors during post-flood remediation and biohazard cleanups.

Q: What does 'dwell time' mean when applying graffiti remover?

Dwell time (or contact time) refers to the specific amount of time a chemical must remain wet on a surface to effectively break down the contaminant. For porous brickwork, a gel-based graffiti remover may require a dwell time of 10 to 15 minutes to fully penetrate and dissolve the aerosol paint before high-pressure rinsing.

Q: What are your delivery timeframes for industrial specialty chemicals?

For metropolitan areas, standard delivery typically takes 1 to 3 business days. Please note that certain specialty chemicals (like aggressive solvents or strong oxidizers) are classified as Dangerous Goods (DG) and require specialized freight handling. We also offer Click & Collect from our Arncliffe warehouse in Sydney.

Standard janitorial detergents are formulated for general soil removal, but they fail when confronted with complex chemical bonds, invasive fungal growth, or vandalism. Special Purpose Chemicals are highly targeted formulations engineered to resolve specific facility management crises. Whether neutralizing airborne spores post-water damage or safely dissolving aerosol paints from heritage masonry, these advanced chemicals rely on precise pH manipulation, oxidative action, and extended dwell times to break down localized contaminants without degrading the underlying substrate.

Understanding Substrate Compatibility & Dwell Times

Deploying specialty chemistry requires a strict understanding of the target surface. Applying a highly alkaline masonry graffiti remover to a painted metal sign will instantly strip the factory coating. Instead, sensitive surface removers must be used to break the bond of the graffiti while leaving the substrate intact. Similarly, effective mould remediation requires hydrogen peroxide-based decontaminants (like Actichem Percide) that penetrate porous materials to destroy the fungal root system (hyphae), rather than standard chlorine bleach, which merely bleaches the surface pigment while the underlying organism survives.

At Freshway Supplies, we distribute a comprehensive arsenal of specialty chemicals from industry-leading brands including Actichem, Aeris, 3M, and Clean Plus. We help restoration contractors, municipal councils, and facility managers source compliant, highly effective chemical solutions with precise SDS documentation and rapid dispatch across Australia.

Chemical Mechanics & Specifications

Oxidative Action: Advanced mouldicides utilize oxidative compounds that rapidly penetrate cell walls to destroy biological pathogens and fungal spores at the root level.
TGA Compliance: Clinical decontaminants and hospital-grade sanitizers (such as Actichem Biosan II) are strictly tested and listed with the Therapeutic Goods Administration for proven efficacy against specific pathogens.
Viscosity & Dwell Time: Graffiti removers for porous brickwork are often formulated as thickened gels, allowing the chemical to cling to vertical surfaces for extended contact times without running off.
Protective Polishes: Stainless steel treatments (like 3M) not only clean but leave behind a micro-thin, oleophobic barrier that repels water and prevents fingerprint oxidation in commercial kitchens.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the difference between a bare brick and a sensitive surface graffiti remover?

Bare Brick/Masonry Removers are highly aggressive, often utilizing strong solvents and alkalis to draw deep-set paint out of porous concrete and stone. Sensitive Surface Removers are precisely formulated to break the chemical bond of the graffiti ink without melting or stripping the underlying factory paint, perspex, or reflective coating on street signs.

Why shouldn't I use standard chlorine bleach to kill mould?

Standard chlorine bleach has a high surface tension, meaning it cannot penetrate porous materials like drywall or timber. It merely bleaches the surface pigment of the mould white, while the underlying root system (hyphae) survives and quickly regrows. Professional mouldicides utilize oxidative action (e.g., hydrogen peroxide) to penetrate the substrate and permanently destroy the entire organism.

What is Actichem Percide used for?

Actichem Percide is a highly advanced, TGA-listed decontaminant and mouldicide. It utilizes an accelerated hydrogen peroxide formula to aggressively destroy mould spores, bacteria, and viruses upon contact. It is heavily relied upon by professional restoration contractors during post-flood remediation and biohazard cleanups.

How does 3M Stainless Steel Cleaner work?

Professional stainless steel cleaners (like the 3M aerosol) perform a dual action. First, they dissolve heavy surface grease and watermarks. Second, they leave behind a micro-thin, streak-free protective film. This oleophobic (oil-repelling) barrier prevents fingerprints from oxidizing into the metal, drastically reducing future maintenance time in commercial kitchens and elevators.

Are these specialty chemicals safe for use in commercial food preparation areas?

Many of our specialty detergents and stainless steel polishes are HACCP-approved or formulated specifically for food-safe environments. However, heavily aggressive chemicals (like graffiti removers or oxidative mouldicides) require strict post-cleaning rinse protocols if deployed near food contact surfaces. Always consult the SDS prior to application.

What does 'dwell time' mean when applying graffiti remover?

Dwell time (or contact time) refers to the specific amount of time a chemical must remain wet on a surface to effectively break down the contaminant. For porous brickwork, a gel-based graffiti remover may require a dwell time of 10 to 15 minutes to fully penetrate and dissolve the aerosol paint before high-pressure rinsing.

How do I safely store and handle special purpose chemicals?

Specialty chemicals are highly concentrated and often classified as Dangerous Goods (DG). They must be stored in a cool, well-ventilated chemical store away from direct sunlight and incompatible substances (e.g., never store oxidizers next to flammables). Operators must always wear the appropriate PPE (nitrile gloves, splash goggles, and respirators) as dictated by the product's Safety Data Sheet.

Do you provide Safety Data Sheets (SDS) for your specialty chemicals?

Yes. WHS compliance is critical for facility managers and contract cleaners. Freshway Supplies provides immediate access to the most current manufacturer Safety Data Sheets (SDS) for every specialty chemical, mouldicide, and decontaminant we distribute.

Can I request bulk B2B pricing for graffiti and mould removal chemicals?

Absolutely. Freshway Supplies provides structured wholesale trade pricing and volume discounts for municipal councils, strata management groups, and professional restoration contractors managing ongoing consumable procurement.

They earned it! I hardly ever leave reviews, but Abe absolutely deserves this one.

I rang ready to spend nearly $2,000. Unfortunately, the item wasn’t in stock for pickup and would take seven days to arrive. Abe said he’d call me back.

Five minutes later, he had found one in stock at another business in Parramatta — and negotiated the same discount for me there.
He had just lost the sale, yet he was genuinely happy he could help. That says everything.

This is how an excellent reputation is earned: day by day, customer by customer. Could not possibly ask for more.

Thank you, Abe — AWESOME service!
