The Victa catalogue runs from a A$599 push mower to a A$1,249 self-propelled machine, and the numbers on the box — 140cc, 163cc, 190cc, 18 inch, 19 inch — do not tell you which one suits the ground you actually mow. Here is what each family is for, and what the two most expensive decisions in the range really buy.
The three Victa families we stock
Victa splits into three families: Corvette and Pace as the general-purpose domestic mowers, Mustang as the heavier-cut machine with a cast alloy deck and larger engines, and the self-propelled variants of Pace and Mustang for slopes and long runs. Engine size, cut width and drive type decide which one you need.
Everything else in the range — air filters, blades, fuel caps, chargers — follows from that choice, which is why it is worth making the model decision first and buying the consumables afterwards.
Prices are Freshway catalogue prices as at 16 September 2026 and are subject to change. Confirm the current price, and whether GST applies, before quoting.
The full line-up, with the numbers that matter
| Model | Code | Drive | Engine | Torque | Cut | Price |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Corvette V144 | 2691875 | Push | Victa V144 OHV 4-stroke | 7.8 Nm | 18 in | A$599.00 |
| Pace 200 | 881902 | Push | Briggs & Stratton 140cc 550E | 6.8 Nm | 18 in | A$699.00 |
| Pace 400SP | 881904 | Self-propelled, rear-wheel drive | 163cc | — | 19 in | A$949.00 |
| Pace 400 | 2691636 | Push | Briggs & Stratton 163cc 675EXi | 9.2 Nm | 19 in | A$999.00 |
| Pace 600 Ultimate | 881906 | Self-propelled, rear-wheel drive | 150cc | — | 19 in | A$1,049.00 |
| Mustang | 881907 | Push | Briggs & Stratton 163cc 725EXi, cast alloy deck | 9.8 Nm | 19 in | A$1,049.00 |
| Mustang 850 | 881925 | Push | Briggs & Stratton 190cc 850 Series | 11.5 Nm | 19 in | A$1,149.00 |
| Mustang self-propelled | 881908 | Self-propelled, rear-wheel drive | 163cc | — | 19 in | A$1,249.00 |
Two things in that table are worth reading carefully. First, the self-propelled Pace 400SP lists below the push Pace 400; the two are different production generations rather than a like-for-like pair, so compare them on the deck and engine rather than on price alone. Second, torque rises faster than displacement across the family — the jump from 140cc to 190cc takes the rating from 6.8 Nm to 11.5 Nm, which is what actually gets you through wet kikuyu without stalling.
Push or self-propelled: the decision that changes the working day
Cut width saves you passes; drive saves you fatigue. On a flat suburban block of a few hundred square metres, a push mower at 18 or 19 inches is quicker overall because it turns tighter and weighs less to manoeuvre around garden beds. On a sloping block, a long nature strip, or anything over roughly 1,500 m2, the arithmetic reverses and rear-wheel drive does the work.
- Push, 18 inch — Corvette V144 or Pace 200. Tight yards, small blocks, easy access through gates.
- Push, 19 inch — Pace 400 or Mustang 850. Larger lawns, thicker grass, operators who want more torque in reserve.
- Self-propelled, 19 inch — Pace 400SP, Pace 600 Ultimate or Mustang self-propelled. Slopes, long runs, and any site where a crew mows for hours rather than minutes.
Rear-wheel drive is the standard arrangement on these machines because the drive wheels carry the weight when the mower is pushed uphill, and it is the arrangement that gives the most traction on slopes. If you are still deciding between a petrol mower and something else entirely, our guide to choosing the right lawn mower covers the wider market, and the full range including electric machines is in lawn mowers.
Blades and bolts: match the cut width and deck, not the model name
Blade sets are the most commonly mis-ordered Victa part, because two 18 inch mowers can take different blade assemblies depending on the deck and the swing-blade design. Order by cut width and mower family, and where a part number is printed on the old blade, quote it.
| Part | Suits | Price |
|---|---|---|
| CA09351B | 18 inch Utility model mowers | A$14.00 |
| CA09506B | 18 inch mowers, swing blade and bolt set | A$19.90 |
| CA09276B | Professional 550 and S600 | A$18.50 |
| CA09470B | 19 inch catch or mulch mowers | A$22.50 |
| GA Spares blade and bolt set | Bushranger, Falcon and selected Victa models | A$14.95 |
A blunt blade tears grass instead of cutting it, and the visible result is a lawn that yellows at the tips a day or two after mowing. Our blade change guide covers the safe sequence, including the one step people skip: disconnecting the spark plug lead before touching anything under the deck.
Battery Victa: 18V and 82V
Victa’s cordless range shares battery platforms with Briggs & Stratton, so the charger and battery part numbers matter more than the badge on the tool.
| Item | Code | Price |
|---|---|---|
| Victa 18V battery charger with indicators and USB socket | 883248 | A$99.00 |
| Briggs & Stratton 18V battery charger, GEN-II | 883248 / 1697257 | A$85.80 |
| Victa 18V lithium blower, skin only | 1697260 | A$149.00 |
| Briggs & Stratton / Victa genuine 82V 2.0 Ah lithium-ion battery | 1760426 | A$425.00 |
The 82V battery is the outlier on price, and it is the item that decides whether a site commits to the 82V platform at all. If you are already running 18V tools, staying in 18V keeps one charger per van and one battery type on the shelf.
What wears out, and what to keep on the shelf
Petrol mowers fail predictably, and almost all of it is consumables rather than engine failure. Three items account for most of the downtime we see:
- Air filters — a clogged filter is the usual cause of a mower that starts and then surges or stalls under load. Victa Air Filter Large AF07282B is A$9.50.
- Blades and bolts — as above; blunt blades also overload the engine and cause the symptom people blame on the carburettor.
- Fuel caps and vents — a blocked vent causes fuel starvation on two-stroke equipment. The Victa 2-stroke line trimmer fuel cap with vent, TR00399A, is A$29.50.
Holding one of each on the shelf costs less than A$50 and removes most same-day downtime. Our lawn mower service guide sets out what a full service covers, and our service and repair team handles repairs where a part swap is not enough.
Safety on commercial sites
Petrol mowers combine a rotating blade, hot exhaust, fuel and noise, and on a worksite the duty to manage those sits with the person conducting the business. SafeWork NSW covers the isolation and guarding principles in its machinery and equipment guidance, and where crews mow for extended periods the noise at work requirements apply to the mower as much as to any other plant.
Questions we get asked most
- Are Victa lawn mowers any good?
- The practical test for a mower is whether it keeps running, and on that measure the range holds up: the models we stock carry Briggs & Stratton engines rated from 6.8 to 11.5 Nm, the Mustang uses a cast alloy deck rather than pressed steel, and blades, bolts, filters and fuel caps are all orderable as genuine parts.
- What happened to Victa mowers?
- The range is still current. What has changed is the model line-up: our catalogue carries both the older 8819xx series codes and newer 269xxxx codes for the same families, which is what a generation change looks like from a parts book. Ownership and manufacturing history is not something we can verify from our own data, so ask us and we will confirm it with the supplier.
- Is Victa mowers Australian made?
- Victa is an Australian brand and the machines are specified for Australian conditions. Whether a particular model is assembled in Australia is not stated on our listings, and the engines are branded Briggs & Stratton, so treat country of origin as something to confirm for the exact model rather than assume across the range.
- Which Victa mower is self-propelled?
- In our catalogue, the Pace 400SP, the Pace 600 Ultimate and the 163cc Mustang are the self-propelled models, all with rear-wheel drive. The Corvette, Pace 200, Pace 400 and Mustang 850 are push mowers.
- Which blade suits my Victa 18 inch mower?
- Two kits cover most 18 inch Victa mowers: CA09506B for the standard swing-blade mowers and CA09351B for the 18 inch Utility models. Check the part number on the blade you are removing, and if it has worn away, tell us the mower code from the deck.
