Trade Account Buying: Floor Scrubbers and Consumables Together
Order the scrubber with the parts it wears out, on one account, in one delivery. [80 chars]

Picture two cleaning contractors who win similar retail contracts in the same month and buy the same compact scrubber.
The first pays by card for the machine alone. Brushes, squeegee blades and floor chemical are bought later, each when something runs out, from whoever has stock that day. Three months in, a torn squeegee leaves water trails across a shopping-arcade floor and the machine sits in the van for days while a part is found.

The second opens a trade account before the first order. The machine arrives with a spare squeegee assembly, a second brush, a pad holder and a pH-neutral floor chemical, all on one invoice with a purchase order number. When the squeegee wears, the replacement is already on the shelf.
The machines are identical. The buying decisions are not, and they decide which crew keeps its floors dry and its routes on time.
Trade account floor scrubber: the short answer
A trade account floor scrubber purchase works when the machine, its wear parts and its chemical are planned together. Map every consumable to the exact model, hold one spare set of squeegees and brushes, order chemical by dilution rather than by drum, and use the account for repeat orders, delivery planning and records.
The steps below follow the decisions in the order a buyer meets them. For choosing a supplier in the first place, Freshway's trade buyer's guide to wholesale cleaning supplies in Sydney covers the comparison.
Why bundle the machine and its consumables
Scrubber consumables are model-specific, and that is the whole case for bundling. Freshway's listings for the Nilfisk SC351 and SC100 make the point:
- The SC351 has a 37 cm cleaning path and takes 370 mm disc brushes and a 370 mm pad holder. Its squeegee assembly (9100000085) is listed for the SC351 and Clarke Vantage 14 only.
- The SC100 has a 31 cm path and takes 310 mm cylindrical brushes and a 321 mm squeegee kit (107411867).
Neither set fits the other machine. Buy them later from a general list and the risk of a wrong part rises with every order.
Wear is also hard to predict. Tennant Australia's brush guide says there is no magic formula for brush life: it depends on how often the machine runs, the floor type and condition, how dirty the floor is and how fast the operator works. Cylindrical brushes should be replaced when the bristle is down to about 1 cm, and many disc brushes carry a wear indicator. When the replacement date cannot be predicted, the spare has to be on hand already.
Squeegees carry a safety cost too. SafeWork NSW lists slippery floor surfaces resulting from cleaning products and methods among the causes of slips, trips and falls. A worn blade that leaves water behind turns a cleaning machine into a slip hazard.
Decision 1: plan the SKUs before the first order
- Fix the machine model from the floor area and access. Tennant Australia points walk-behind scrubbers at confined, congested areas and ride-ons at large open floors, and argues for a mixed fleet matched to each zone.
- List every wear part for that model: brushes or pad holder, pads, squeegee blades or assembly.
- Choose brush grades by floor, not by habit (see the table).
- Add chemical by dilution, so the drum size matches real use.
- Write the part numbers into the account so every reorder repeats the right SKU.
| Machine (Freshway listing) | Brush or pad holder | Squeegee | Typical floor use from the listings |
|---|---|---|---|
| Nilfisk SC351, 37 cm disc, lithium battery | 370 mm Prolite (soft polypropylene), Union Mix (natural and synthetic blend) or Mid-Grit 240 discs; 370 mm pad holder | Assembly 9100000085 with polyurethane blades | Prolite for daily cleaning of polished concrete, vinyl and sealed timber; Mid-Grit 240 for periodic deep cleans |
| Nilfisk SC100, 31 cm cylindrical, corded | 310 mm cylindrical: white (medium), microfibre, hard black, blue for carpet | Kit 107411867, 321 mm | White for sealed hard floors; blue for carpet |
Pads are a separate line. Freshway's Glomesh 350 mm regular-speed pads, for example, are sold individually and rated for machines up to 1000 RPM, so confirm the pad diameter your pad holder takes before ordering in bulk. Freshway's floor pad colour guide covers which colour suits which task.
Decision 2: chemical, dilution and safety data sheets
Chemical is the consumable that moves fastest, and dilution decides how fast. Freshway lists Actichem Pro Neutro (AP662) as a pH-neutral cleaner that dilutes up to 1:400 for auto scrubbers, and Freshway Neutralex 383 as a pH-neutral cleaner for sealed hard floors with auto-scrubbing among its uses. Compare drums by litres of working solution, not litres of concentrate. Foam matters as well: Agar pH-7 is listed with medium-to-high foam and a no-rinse formula for mopping, so ask whether a product suits your scrubber's recovery tank before standardising on it.
The machine can change the sum too. Nilfisk Australia's Ecoflex page describes water-only, ultra-low detergent, standard detergent and burst-of-power modes, with detergent-free low flow as the default start-up mode. A crew using water-only for routine work uses far less concentrate than one dosing every tank.
Paperwork belongs in the bundle. SafeWork NSW's general requirements for hazardous chemicals ask workplaces to get a current safety data sheet before using a hazardous chemical and to keep a register with the current SDS for each one. Its page for chemical suppliers requires a current SDS the first time a chemical is supplied. Freshway's B2B page lists SDS documents among its account support, so request them with the first order. Browse the full cleaning chemicals range to shortlist floor products.
Decision 3: delivery across Australia
Freshway's Shipping and Delivery Policy says most orders dispatch within 1 to 2 business days once payment has cleared and stock is confirmed. Its delivery guide gives these business days after dispatch:
| Destination | Business days after dispatch |
|---|---|
| NSW city, Melbourne | 1 |
| Brisbane | 1 to 2 |
| Adelaide | 2 to 3 |
| Regional VIC and QLD | 3 to 4 |
| NT, WA, TAS (all areas) | 4 to 6 |
Three rules matter for a scrubber bundle. Heavy machinery, liquids and chemicals are excluded from free shipping offers and may carry extra freight. Bulky items cannot go to PO boxes, so give a street address. And Click and Collect from the Arncliffe warehouse is available by prior arrangement. The B2B page also lists free Sydney delivery for B2B commercial accounts above a minimum order value. Send the machine and the first consumables together, then schedule chemical and pads as a regular order.
Decision 4: trade credit, what to ask for
Freshway's B2B page describes 30-day payment terms from the invoice date, a credit limit based on estimated monthly purchases, invoices with purchase order references and support for recurring supply. The application asks for the legal entity, ABN or ACN, an accounts payable contact, estimated monthly purchases and the credit limit requested, and every application is reviewed.
The business.gov.au ABN page notes that an ABN verifies your business when ordering and invoicing, and that ABN Lookup lets you check a supplier's details. Use it both ways.
Before signing, read these points in the Trade Account Policy:
- The first order is supplied cash on delivery; credit terms apply after that.
- A minimum monthly spend applies to the credit account.
- Standard stocked items can be cancelled within 24 hours; special-order items cannot.
- Defects must be reported within 7 days of delivery.
- Approved returns can attract a restocking fee, so check the current terms.
The last two shape the bundle: inspect the first delivery on arrival, and do not over-order consumables to fill a carton.
Spares worth holding
- One squeegee set per machine. It is the part that decides whether the floor is left dry.
- One spare brush or pad holder, so a worn brush never stops a shift.
- Pads by the task, counted from real use rather than guessed.
- Chemical for one reorder cycle, not one year.
Look after what you hold. Tennant recommends cleaning brushes after each use, spraying them off with hot water and hanging them to dry. Freshway's workshop also repairs floor machines, including battery, water recovery and control faults, with a quote before work starts.
Starter kits by site
- Cafes, washrooms and small retail (SC100): machine, a second white cylindrical brush, a spare 321 mm squeegee kit and a pH-neutral floor cleaner.
- Retail floors and corridors (SC351): machine, a spare Prolite or Union Mix disc, a Mid-Grit 240 disc for periodic deep cleans, a squeegee assembly, a pad holder with pads, and an auto-scrubber dilution chemical.
- Mixed portfolios: one kit per model, plus a shared stock list that names every part number.
Compare machines across the full floor scrubber range before you fix the kit list.
Common mistakes to avoid
- Buying consumables by size alone. A 370 mm brush for one deck is not a 370 mm brush for every deck.
- Ordering chemical by drum price instead of by working solution.
- Skipping the SDS request on the first order.
- Leaving the squeegee until it tears, which leaves water and slip risk behind the machine.
- Over-ordering to fill a carton, then meeting the restocking fee on returns.
Frequently asked questions
Is it cheaper to buy scrubber consumables only when they wear out?
Rarely once downtime counts. A scrubber waiting on a squeegee or brush earns nothing, and Tennant notes there is no fixed formula for brush life, so hold one spare set.
Do I need a trade account to buy a floor scrubber from Freshway?
No. Anyone can order online. An account suits businesses that reorder consumables, want 30-day terms on approved credit and need invoices with purchase order references.
Can I return consumables I over-ordered?
Only with approval. Freshway's trade terms set limits on returns and restocking, so check the current terms and order to the plan rather than by the carton.
Will one chemical suit every floor and scrubber?
Not always. Freshway lists pH-neutral options for sealed hard floors and auto scrubbers, but check the floor finish, the dilution and the safety data sheet first.
