Agar Cleaning Chemicals: Range Guide for Australian Facilities

Agar is one of the two professional chemical ranges we stock most deeply, and the reason is documentation: the dilution guidance, safety data sheets and product structure are consistent enough to build a site specification on.

One range, four chemistry families

Agar is organised by surface and soil rather than by room. Neutral floor cleaners, alkaline kitchen and degreasing chemistry, acidic sanitary and scale products, and disinfectants make up the range, and most sites need one or two products from each family rather than the whole catalogue.

Prices are Freshway catalogue prices as at 16 September 2026 and are subject to change. Confirm the current price, and whether GST applies, before quoting.

Agar products are supplied in both ready-to-use spray bottles and concentrates, which lets a site run one chemistry at two scales. See the Agar range.

Spray bottles and concentrates

Agar supplies the same chemistry as a ready-to-use 500 mL spray and as a concentrate. Running the spray for spot work and the concentrate for bulk dilution means one chemistry, one safety data sheet and one dilution reference for staff, which is easier to supervise than mixing brands.

Sanitary chemistry in the same range structure as the rest. One brand across a site means one dilution reference for every product. See bathroom cleaners.

Dilution and documentation

Every Agar product lists its dilution and contact time, and the safety data sheets are published separately on our site. Where a site audits chemical documentation, having one supplier and one document set is materially easier than assembling sheets from several ranges.

Building a site specification

  1. One neutral cleaner for daily floors and general surfaces.
  2. One alkaline product for kitchen and grease soil.
  3. One acidic product for scale and sanitary ware.
  4. One disinfectant at the contact time the site requires.
  5. One glass cleaner for glazing and mirrors.

Where Agar fits against Actichem

Both are professional Australian ranges. Agar is broader across general facility cleaning; Actichem is stronger in carpet, upholstery and specialist restoration chemistry. Sites with carpet extraction programmes often run both.

Storage and handling

Concentrates should be stored separately from working solutions, decanted bottles must be labelled with product and dilution, and safety data sheets must be retrievable by the people using the products. Ours are published at Agar safety data sheets.

Frequently asked questions

What is the Agar cleaning chemical range?
An Australian professional range organised by surface and soil: neutral floor and general cleaners, alkaline kitchen and degreasing chemistry, acidic scale and sanitary products, disinfectants and specialty products, supplied as ready-to-use bottles and concentrates.
Is Agar suitable for commercial use?
Yes. It is formulated for commercial and industrial work rather than domestic use, with published dilution ratios, contact times and safety data sheets — which is what a facility specification needs.
Where can I find Agar safety data sheets?
We publish the Agar safety data sheet set separately, so it can be retrieved on site without contacting a sales representative.
Agar or Actichem?
Agar for general facility cleaning across floors, surfaces, washrooms and kitchens. Actichem for carpet, upholstery and specialist restoration chemistry. Many sites use both.
Do I need concentrates or ready-to-use?
Concentrates for bulk dilution and daily work, because cost per working litre is far lower. Keep ready-to-use bottles for spot work and for tasks where dilution cannot be controlled.

Building a chemical specification?

Tell us what you clean and we will build an Agar-based specification with dilution ratios and the safety data sheet pack. See the Agar range or ask our team.
