Product Description

Oates 600mm Modacrylic Dust Control Mop Refill (SM-138)

Streamline your dry floor maintenance program with the Oates 600mm Modacrylic Dust Control Mop Refill (SM-138). In commercial environments like retail centers, school gymnasiums, and hospital corridors, sweeping with traditional bristle brooms tends to push fine dust and allergens directly into the air. This professional-grade dry mop refill solves this by utilizing highly resilient modacrylic fibers that generate a natural electrostatic charge. As the mop glides across hard floors, it acts like a magnet, actively attracting and trapping fine dust, lint, and loose hair within the fibers, improving overall indoor air quality.

Engineered specifically for use with the Oates SM-136 swivel frame, this massive 600mm (60cm) wide fringe allows operators to cover expansive floor areas rapidly, significantly reducing sweeping time. The durable modacrylic material is designed to withstand the friction of daily commercial use on vinyl, polished concrete, and sealed timber without shedding or fraying. Fully washable and completely reusable, this commercial cleaning supply provides facility managers with a highly sustainable, cost-effective tool for maintaining immaculate, dust-free floors with minimal physical effort.

Who Is This Dust Control Mop Refill Ideal For?

Commercial Cleaning Contractors: The wide 600mm path slashes the time required to dry-sweep large corporate foyers, maximizing labor efficiency.
Educational & Sports Facilities: Perfect for quickly clearing dust and debris from large timber gymnasium floors without scratching the polished surface.
Healthcare Facilities: The electrostatic dust capture prevents fine particulate matter from becoming airborne, supporting strict indoor air quality standards.

Key Features and Performance Benefits:

Electrostatic Modacrylic Fibres: Physical friction against the floor generates a static charge that acts like a magnet, drawing fine dust directly into the mop head.
Massive 600mm Commercial Width: Clears large, open hard floor areas in a fraction of the time it takes with a standard domestic broom.
Exact SM-136 Frame Fitment: Designed with secure backing pockets to slip flawlessly onto the heavy-duty Oates SM-136 swivel wire frame.
100% Scratch-Free Safety: The soft synthetic material glides smoothly over delicate, high-gloss marble or polished timber without leaving micro-scratches.
Washable & Reusable: The highly durable matrix can be laundered to remove trapped soil, offering an exceptionally long commercial lifespan.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does this listing include the metal handle and frame?

No. This listing is strictly for the 'Refill' (the orange modacrylic fabric fringe) only. It is designed as a replacement head for customers who already own the complete Oates SM-136 Dust Control Mop assembly.

Can I use this mop with water and floor cleaner?

Absolutely NOT. The Oates Modacrylic Mop is engineered strictly for 'Dry Use Only'. Getting it wet destroys the fibers' ability to generate the static electricity required to attract dust.

How does an electrostatic mop work?

As you push the dry modacrylic fibers across a hard floor, the physical friction generates a static electrical charge. This static charge acts like a magnet, actively pulling microscopic dust and pet hair up into the mop head.

Which specific mop frame will this fit?

This 600mm replacement fringe is engineered to slip perfectly over the collapsible metal swivel wire frame of the Oates SM-136 Dust Control Mop.

Can I wash the orange mop head?

Yes! The heavy-duty fringe is designed to be removed and machine-washed on a standard warm cycle. However, NEVER use fabric softener, as the oily residue will permanently ruin the mop's electrostatic properties.

Why is this better than a normal sweeping broom?

A standard broom flicks fine dust into the air, where it settles back onto desks and furniture. This electrostatic dry mop locks the dust into the fibers, removing it from the environment entirely and improving indoor air quality.

Is this safe for polished timber floors?

Yes. This is the safest way to clean delicate timber. It provides a flawless, 100% scratch-free sweep without exposing the wood to damaging moisture from traditional wet mops.

How do I empty the dust out of the mop while working?

When the mop becomes loaded with dust during a shift, take it outside and shake it vigorously, or use a stiff hand brush to comb the trapped dirt directly into a waste bin.

Will this mop pick up gravel and small stones?

It is exceptional at trapping fine dust and lint, but it cannot trap heavy solid objects. You will need to sweep heavy gravel or large debris into a dustpan.

How do I attach the new refill to the frame?

The fringe features specialized slip-pockets and ties on the backing. You simply collapse the metal wire frame, slip the old fabric off, slide the frame into the pockets of the new refill, and click the frame back into the locked position.

When should I throw the mop head away?

You should replace the refill when the synthetic fibers become permanently matted, heavily frayed, or when the mop loses its ability to hold a static charge and begins leaving dust trails behind.

They earned it! I hardly ever leave reviews, but Abe absolutely deserves this one.

I rang ready to spend nearly $2,000. Unfortunately, the item wasn’t in stock for pickup and would take seven days to arrive. Abe said he’d call me back.

Five minutes later, he had found one in stock at another business in Parramatta — and negotiated the same discount for me there.
He had just lost the sale, yet he was genuinely happy he could help. That says everything.

This is how an excellent reputation is earned: day by day, customer by customer. Could not possibly ask for more.

Thank you, Abe — AWESOME service!
