What is the actual purpose of an Extension Shaft?

An extension shaft is literally a hollow metal tube with an internal spinning drive rod. It does not have a motor or a blade. You plug it into your Power Hub engine, and then plug a cutting attachment (like a chainsaw) into the top of it, making your tool massively longer to reach high branches.

Can I use this extension on its own?

Absolutely NOT. This is strictly a 'Middle Extension'. It does not have a motor or a cutting head. You MUST have a Kress Commercial Multi-Tool Power Hub (KAC104) to power it, AND a separate Kress attachment (like a hedge trimmer) to plug into the top.

Will this fit my petrol Stihl or Honda multi-tool?

No. The highly specialized 'Quick-Couple' drive shaft and locking pin system is strictly proprietary to Kress. It will absolutely not fit or operate safely on petrol multi-tools from other brands like Stihl, Honda, or Husqvarna.

Can I connect two of these extension shafts together to reach 30 feet?

Absolutely NOT. You must NEVER daisy-chain multiple extension shafts together. Doing so creates catastrophic leverage that will snap the shaft, burn out the motor, and create a highly dangerous situation where the cutting head is completely uncontrollable. Only use ONE extension.

Will the long aluminum pole bend when I use it?

No. Kress has engineered this shaft using high-strength, commercial-grade aluminum tubing. It is incredibly rigid and specifically designed to support the heavy weight of a pole saw or hedge trimmer without whipping or bowing under heavy load.

Does using the extension reduce the cutting power?

No. The KAC360 features an internal solid steel drive shaft that rides on premium bearings. It transfers 100% of the massive 1.3 kW torque from the Kress brushless motor straight up to the cutting attachment with zero power loss.

Is it difficult to attach to the Power Hub?

Not at all. The Kress Quick-Couple system is completely tool-free. You simply loosen the collar on the Power Hub, slide the KAC360 extension in until it clicks, then repeat the process at the top to attach your cutting tool. It takes 10 seconds.

Can I use the grass trimmer attachment with this extension?

While it physically clicks together, using an extension shaft on a grass trimmer (whipper snipper) puts the cutting head 3 metres away from you, making it impossible to control on the ground. Extensions are strictly designed for high-reach Pole Saws and Hedge Trimmers.

Is it heavy to hold above my head?

The aluminum extension itself is incredibly lightweight. However, when holding the Power Hub, the heavy 60V battery, the extension, and the cutting head, it requires upper body strength. The system is perfectly balanced to make this as ergonomic as possible.

Can I use this in the rain?

While the aluminum extension tube is impervious to water, its safety in the rain depends entirely on the Power Hub. Because the Kress KAC104 Hub features an IPX5 waterproof rating, you can safely use this complete system in wet conditions.

Do I need to grease the inside of the extension?

For absolute peak commercial performance and longevity, it is highly recommended to periodically withdraw the internal steel drive shaft and coat it lightly with high-temperature lithium grease to prevent friction heat.
