How does a 'Spray Extraction' machine work?

Can I use hot water in this machine?

While the machine does not have an internal heater to boil water, you can safely fill the 8-Litre fresh water tank with very hot tap water (up to 50ºC). Hot water massively improves the grease-cutting power of your carpet shampoo.

Does it come with a long wand for cleaning the floor?

No. The Puzzi 8/1 is specifically supplied with the short, handheld 'Upholstery Tool' which is designed for car seats, couches, and spot-cleaning. If you want to clean an entire room's carpet standing up, you must purchase the long Karcher floor wand separately.

Can I use normal laundry detergent in this machine?

Absolutely NOT. You must strictly use specialized, 'low-foaming' commercial carpet extraction chemicals (like Karcher RM 760). High-foaming domestic detergents will create massive suds that will bypass the motor protection filter and instantly destroy the vacuum motor.

How do I empty the dirty water?

It is incredibly easy. You simply take off the clear dome lid, grab the handle of the 7-Litre dirty water bucket, lift it completely out of the machine, and pour the dirty water down a toilet or drain.

Is the machine heavy to carry?

No, it is exceptionally lightweight for a commercial extractor, weighing only 9.8kg empty. It features a large central carry handle, making it very easy for auto detailers to lift in and out of vans or carry up flights of stairs.

What is the clear plastic piece on the hand tool for?

The clear plastic head on the upholstery tool allows you to visually see the dirty brown water being sucked out of the fabric. Once the water flowing through the clear plastic turns clear, you know the seat is 100% clean.

Is the spray hose separate from the vacuum hose?

No, Karcher uses a highly convenient 'integrated' design. The small water line that delivers the spray is neatly integrated inside the large vacuum hose, preventing tangles and making the hose much easier to handle inside tight car interiors.

Can I use this to suck up dry dust?

No. The Puzzi 8/1 is strictly designed as a wet extraction machine. If you suck up dry dirt or sand, it will turn into thick mud inside the pipes and instantly clog the internal filters. You must always dry-vacuum the car or carpet thoroughly with a standard vacuum BEFORE using the extractor.
