Product Description

Elephant Brand Steel Wool Grade 0000 (16 Pads) – Commercial Cleaning Supplies

Execute highly precise, ultra-delicate surface restoration and flawlessly polish highly sensitive architectural metals with the exceptionally formidable Elephant Brand Steel Wool Grade 0000 (16 Pads). In the demanding automotive detailing, antique restoration, and commercial window cleaning sectors, utilizing harsh, abrasive scouring pads or coarse sandpaper is a catastrophic operational failure. Coarse abrasives instantly inflict deep, permanent, irreversible scratches into delicate chrome, vintage woodwork, and architectural glass. This professional-grade commercial cleaning supply provides the ultimate, high-efficiency mechanical solution. Engineered as the absolute finest grade available on the global market (Grade 0000), these ultra-fine steel filaments act as an incredibly gentle, microscopic abrasive. They effortlessly sheer away heavy oxidation, baked-on water spots, and rust from highly polished surfaces, completely restoring the factory mirror-finish without leaving a single micro-scratch behind.

Designed for absolute worksite productivity and unparalleled operator versatility, the International Steel Wool (ISW) pads are meticulously forged by controlling the exact thickness of the wire shaving process. The Grade 0000 rating guarantees the strands are exceptionally thin, soft, and pliable, allowing the operator to mold the pad perfectly into tight, complex contours on automotive exhausts or antique furniture joints. Supplied in a highly economical, color-coded bag containing 16 individual pads, these elite industrial cleaning tools provide French polishers, mechanics, and facility managers with an indispensable asset for applying finishing waxes, cutting through heavy window grime, and maintaining immaculate, high-end presentations seamlessly.

Who Is The Grade 0000 Steel Wool Ideal For?

The Elephant Brand Grade 0000 delivers ultra-fine steel filaments, a generous 16-pad commercial bag, and completely scratch-free polishing capabilities. It is highly recommended for:

Antique Restorers & French Polishers: Utilizing highly robust, ultra-fine commercial cleaning supplies to execute absolute perfection. Grade 0000 is the industry gold standard for buffing shellac, lacquer, and high-end varnish. When combined with natural oils or wax, it effortlessly rubs out minor imperfections, leaving a flawless, glass-like finish on expensive timber.
Automotive Detailers & Mechanics: Relying on the scratch-free metal polishing. Detailers can combine these ultra-fine pads with metal polishing compounds or kerosene to aggressively strip thick rust, road tar, and heavy oxidation off highly sensitive chrome bumpers and custom exhaust pipes, restoring a brilliant mirror shine.
Commercial Window Cleaners: Taking absolute advantage of the microscopic abrasive power. When chemical glass cleaners fail to remove baked-on hard water stains and mineral deposits from architectural glass, Grade 0000 steel wool can be used dry to safely shave the minerals off the window without permanently scratching the glass pane.
Facility OH&S Managers: Deploying premium industrial cleaning tools that protect capital investments. Using these ultra-fine pads ensures janitorial staff do not permanently destroy expensive stainless steel elevator doors and brass handrails when trying to scrub off heavy, sticky fingerprints.

Key Features and Performance Benefits:

Ultra-Fine Grade 0000 Rating: The ultimate delicate restoration advantage. Steel wool comes in 8 different grades of abrasiveness. Grade 0000 is the absolute finest and softest classification in existence. It is scientifically engineered to provide intense, microscopic friction without leaving the deep, destructive gouges caused by Grade 1 or 2 wool.
Perfect For Woodwork & Varnish: Maximizes worksite versatility. This wool is an absolute necessity in the timber industry. Instead of using sandpaper which rips the finish off, gently rubbing Grade 0000 over a newly varnished table (lubricated with oil) gently knocks down dust nibs and polishes the resin to a pristine, high-gloss sheen.
Restores Rusted Chrome & Metal: Delivers unyielding commercial performance. You do not have to throw rusted automotive parts away. The ultra-fine steel filaments effortlessly dig into the microscopic pits of the metal, physically slicing the rust away from the underlying chrome without scratching the delicate plating.
Scratch-Free Glass Cleaning: Ensures strict worksite efficiency. Professional window cleaners use Grade 0000 completely dry to scrub heavy, baked-on bird droppings, insect splatters, and hard water spots off commercial windows. It is physically softer than glass, ensuring the window is cleaned flawlessly without damage.
Economical 16-Pad Bulk Bag: Reduces ongoing commercial overheads. Instead of tearing a massive, continuous roll of steel wool by hand, this color-coded bag provides 16 pre-cut, perfectly sized, ready-to-use hand pads. This significantly reduces product waste and ensures the operator always has a fresh pad ready for deployment.

Frequently Asked Questions

What does 'Grade 0000' mean?

Steel wool is manufactured in 8 different grades of abrasiveness by altering the thickness of the steel wire. Grade 3 or 4 is incredibly thick and coarse, used for stripping heavy paint. Grade '0000' (Four Naught) is the absolute finest, softest grade available globally, used for ultra-delicate, scratch-free polishing.

Will Grade 0000 steel wool scratch glass windows?

If used correctly, NO. Glass is physically harder than the ultra-fine steel filaments in Grade 0000 wool. Professional window cleaners use it completely dry to shave baked-on hard water spots and bugs off glass. However, if the pad becomes contaminated with a hard rock or sand, the rock will scratch the glass.

Can I use this to remove rust from my car's chrome bumper?

Yes! This is its absolute best automotive application. You can lubricate the Grade 0000 pad with a metal polishing compound, WD-40, or kerosene. The ultra-fine steel physically slices the heavy red rust out of the microscopic pits in the metal, restoring a flawless mirror shine without scratching the delicate chrome plating.

How do I use this on varnished timber furniture?

French polishers use Grade 0000 to 'rub out' a finish. Once a coat of shellac or varnish has dried, you dip the steel wool pad in a specialized furniture oil or wax, and gently rub the timber in the direction of the grain. It removes tiny dust nibs and polishes the resin to a brilliant, smooth gloss.

Is it safe to use this on stainless steel kitchen appliances?

While it will beautifully clean stainless steel, you must use extreme caution. Tiny, microscopic fibers of the steel wool will break off and embed into the stainless steel surface. If exposed to water later, those tiny steel fibers will rust, making the appliance look terrible. Always wipe the surface thoroughly with a microfiber cloth afterward.

How many pads are in the bag?

This listing provides excellent commercial economy. You receive one color-coded bag, which contains exactly sixteen (16) pre-cut, ready-to-use steel wool hand pads.

Can I wash the steel wool pad and reuse it?

Absolutely NOT. It is made of raw, unprotected carbon steel. If you expose the pad to water and leave it to dry, it will instantly violently oxidize and turn into a useless, rock-hard ball of red rust. Once a pad is heavily soiled or loaded with rust and wax, you must throw it in the bin.

Can I use this for cleaning pots and pans in the kitchen?

While it will scrub baked-on carbon off a frying pan, Grade 0000 is exceptionally fine and will degrade quickly under heavy, wet scrubbing. For aggressive kitchen dishwashing, you should use standard, heavy-duty stainless steel scouring balls instead, as they do not rust.

Why does the bag say 'Color Coded'?

Because the 8 different grades of steel wool can look identical to the naked eye, the manufacturer packages them in distinct, color-coded bags. This ensures a mechanic doesn't accidentally grab a highly abrasive Grade 3 pad when they actually need a delicate Grade 0000 pad, completely preventing catastrophic scratches.

Should I wear gloves when using steel wool?

Yes. While Grade 0000 is exceptionally soft, it is still made of thousands of tiny, razor-sharp steel filaments. Prolonged rubbing can drive microscopic steel splinters into your skin, causing severe irritation. Always wear protective nitrile or leather gloves during commercial use.

Can this start a fire?

Yes! This is a critical safety warning. Because the steel filaments in Grade 0000 are so incredibly fine, if you touch the pad to the two terminals of a 9V battery, the electrical short circuit will instantly ignite the steel wool, causing it to burn violently. Store it far away from batteries and live electricity.

Do you offer trade pricing for automotive detailers?

They earned it! I hardly ever leave reviews, but Abe absolutely deserves this one.

I rang ready to spend nearly $2,000. Unfortunately, the item wasn’t in stock for pickup and would take seven days to arrive. Abe said he’d call me back.

Five minutes later, he had found one in stock at another business in Parramatta — and negotiated the same discount for me there.
He had just lost the sale, yet he was genuinely happy he could help. That says everything.

This is how an excellent reputation is earned: day by day, customer by customer. Could not possibly ask for more.
