CTC Cement & Tile Cleaner – Heavy-Duty Industrial Tile Cleaner (5L/15L)

Master the toughest post-construction cleanups with the legendary CTC Cement & Tile Cleaner. Tried, tested, and unconditionally trusted by the Australian construction industry for over 40 years, this incredibly potent acidic cleaner is specifically formulated to attack and dissolve stubborn mineral residues. It acts as a highly aggressive heavy duty grout cleaner, rapidly melting away excess cement smears, dried grout haze, and mortar residue from newly laid tiled surfaces, ensuring your finished hard floors look absolutely immaculate before handover.

Beyond post-construction cleanups, the 'Original CTC' is highly renowned for its exceptional restorative properties. It reacts aggressively with hard minerals, making it the perfect industrial tile cleaner for stripping away heavy lime scale, bore water stains, and embedded rust marks from older, neglected hard surfaces. Designed to be diluted heavily with water for maximum economy, it requires only a short dwell time to activate, drastically reducing physical scrubbing labor. If you demand fast-acting, uncompromising power for site clean-ups and tile restoration, CTC is the undisputed industry standard.

Who Is This Cement & Tile Cleaner Ideal For?

The original CTC formulation delivers aggressive acidic cleaning power. It is highly recommended for:

  • Construction & Building Crews: Performing final builders' cleans to remove dried cement dust, mortar splashes, and grout haze from freshly laid ceramic floors.
  • Professional Tilers: Quickly washing away excess grout residue after completing large-scale commercial tiling jobs to reveal a perfect finish.
  • Commercial Restoration Cleaners: Stripping heavy rust stains, calcium scale, and efflorescence (white salt deposits) from old outdoor brickwork and pavers.
  • Industrial Facility Managers: Utilizing a potent acidic wash to clean heavily soiled, non-polished concrete and hard masonry surfaces.

Key Features and Performance Benefits:

  • Dissolves Cement & Grout: Formulated with active acids that chemically react with and break down dried cement, mortar, and grout smears effortlessly.
  • Removes Rust & Lime Scale: Highly effective at stripping hard mineral deposits, rust marks, and efflorescence from porous hard floors.
  • 40-Year Industry Pedigree: The original, trusted formula used by Australian tradespeople for decades, guaranteeing reliable commercial performance.
  • Fast-Acting Dwell Time: Requires only a brief one-minute activation period on the surface before washing off, massively speeding up site cleanups.
  • Highly Economical Dilution: Extremely concentrated formula; a standard 1:20 dilution ratio means a single drum yields massive volumes of cleaning solution.

Technical Specifications:

  • Product Name: The ORIGINAL CTC: Cement & Tile Cleaner
  • Available Sizes: 5 Litres / 15 Litres
  • Chemical Profile: Heavy-duty acidic mineral/cement dissolver
  • Target Soils: Cement residue, grout haze, lime scale, rust, efflorescence
  • Safe Surfaces: Ceramic tiles, unpolished concrete, standard brickwork (Do not use on polished natural stone)

Directions for Use:

Always test a small, inconspicuous patch before starting the full job. Dilute 1 part CTC to 20 parts water. Spread the diluted solution evenly over the area to be cleaned using a mop or applicator. Leave the solution to dwell for approximately one minute. Crucial Step: You must scrub and thoroughly rinse the product off the floor with clean water immediately after. If the product is left to dry on the surface, the dissolved cement will harden again, and the entire process will have to be repeated.

How does CTC actually remove dried cement?

CTC is a heavy-duty acidic cleaner. When the acid comes into contact with the alkaline minerals in cement and grout, a chemical reaction occurs that rapidly breaks down and dissolves the hardened residue, turning it into a liquid that can be washed away.

Can I use this product on polished marble or limestone?

Absolutely NOT. Polished natural stones like marble, terrazzo, and limestone are highly sensitive to acid. Using CTC on these surfaces will cause a severe chemical burn (called etching), permanently destroying the polished finish.

Will this remove white salt marks from my brickwork?

Yes. Those white salt deposits are called efflorescence. CTC's acidic formula is highly effective at dissolving those hard mineral salts and restoring the natural look of the brickwork.

Do I need to scrub the floor after applying the liquid?

Yes. While the acid does the heavy lifting of breaking down the cement bond, you will still need to use a stiff deck brush or a scrubbing machine to physically agitate the residue before rinsing it away.

Why must I rinse it off before it dries?

As the acid dissolves the cement, it holds those minerals in suspension. If you allow the liquid to evaporate and dry on the floor, the cement minerals will simply re-harden onto the tiles, meaning you will have to start the cleaning process all over again.

What is the correct dilution ratio?

For standard grout haze and cement residue removal, the recommended dilution is 1 part CTC to 20 parts water. For extremely thick, stubborn cement splashes, you may need a slightly stronger concentration, but always test a small area first.

Is this safe to use on ceramic and porcelain tiles?

Yes, standard glazed ceramic and porcelain tiles are highly resistant to acid, making CTC the perfect product for removing grout haze from them after installation.

Will it damage the actual grout lines between my tiles?

If mixed too strong or left to sit for a long period, the acid will begin to eat away at the actual grout lines. You must only let it dwell for about a minute to remove the 'haze', and then rinse it thoroughly with clean water to neutralize the acid.

Can I use this to remove rust from concrete?

Yes, acidic cleaners are excellent at breaking down iron oxide. It will effectively strip embedded rust stains left behind by metal furniture or old tools from concrete patios.

Should I wear PPE when using CTC?

Yes. Because CTC is an industrial acidic cleaner, you must wear safety glasses, acid-resistant gloves, and enclosed footwear. Ensure the area is well-ventilated to avoid inhaling acidic fumes.

Can I mix this with bleach to clean my bathroom?

NEVER mix an acidic cleaner (like CTC) with bleach (sodium hypochlorite). The chemical reaction instantly produces a highly toxic, potentially lethal chlorine gas.
