Cleanstar 120-Grit Sanding Pad (13 Inch) – Floor Polisher Accessories (PS-002-S120)

Achieve an immaculately smooth, glass-like finish on your timber floors before applying final protective sealants with the premium Cleanstar 120-Grit Sanding Pad (13 Inch). Once you have used coarse abrasives to strip away old polyurethane and level out deep gouges, the raw timber is left with highly visible scratch marks. This specialized, fine-grade floor sanding pad is the ultimate finishing tool. Featuring a highly dense 120-grit abrasive surface, it gently sands away rough fibers, coarse sanding marks, and tiny imperfections, preparing the wooden floorboards perfectly to absorb high-gloss varnishes, oils, and stains without showing underlying flaws.

Precision fitment is absolutely critical to avoid damaging delicate timber during the final sanding stage. Designed explicitly to suit the Cleanstar Polystar 13 Inch Floor Polisher (PS002), this 13-inch pad mounts perfectly to the machine's drive board. This ensures a perfectly balanced, vibration-free rotation that guarantees an even, uniform smoothness across the entire floor. Highly durable and capable of polishing massive floor spaces before losing its abrasive bite, these premium floor polisher accessories are the definitive 'final-pass' investment for professional floor sanders, carpenters, and exacting facility managers demanding flawless timber restoration.

Who Is This 13-Inch 120-Grit Sanding Pad Ideal For?

The PS-002-S120 Sanding Pad delivers fine-grit smoothing and precise 13-inch fitment. It is highly recommended for:

  • Professional Floor Sanders: Utilizing a fine 120-grit floor sanding pad for the crucial 'final pass' to eliminate coarse scratch marks and ensure raw timber is perfectly smooth before applying premium varnishes.
  • Carpenters & Decking Restorers: Attaching this fine finishing pad to a 13-inch polisher to gently sand outdoor timber decking, removing raised grain after heavy stripping.
  • Commercial Facility Managers: Stocking essential floor polisher accessories to professionally maintain and refinish delicate timber dance floors, school gymnasiums, and premium hardwood stages.
  • Appliance & Tool Hire Companies: Providing customers who rent the Cleanstar Polystar 13-Inch machine with the exact, fine-grade sanding pads required to successfully complete the final stages of DIY floor polishing.

Key Features and Performance Benefits:

  • Fine 120-Grit Surface: A fine-grade abrasive. It is the absolute best choice for the final sanding stage, removing rough grain and deep scratches left behind by 40-grit or 80-grit stripping pads.
  • Perfect 13-Inch Fitment: Engineered to match the exact 13-inch diameter of the Cleanstar Polystar PS002 machine, ensuring full floor coverage and perfectly balanced, vibration-free rotation.
  • Creates a Flawless Canvas: By smoothing the wood on a microscopic level, it ensures that when you apply expensive oils, stains, or clear polyurethane, the finish looks like glass without trapped fibers.
  • Heavy-Duty Commercial Backing: The fine grit is securely bonded to a high-strength backing pad, ensuring it does not tear apart or shed grit prematurely when subjected to high-speed rotary friction.
  • Minimizes Surface Burning: The fine grit produces less intense friction heat than coarse pads, drastically reducing the risk of leaving dark burn marks on light-colored raw timber.

What is a 120-Grit sanding pad used for?

120-Grit is a 'fine' abrasive. It is used in the final stages of floor restoration. After you have stripped old paint and leveled the floor with a harsh 40-grit or 60-grit pad, you use this 120-grit pad to sand the floor perfectly smooth before applying clear varnish or oil.

Can I use this pad to strip old, thick paint?

No. Because 120-grit is very fine, trying to use it to strip thick, rock-hard polyurethane or paint will simply clog the pad instantly and generate massive heat. You must use a coarse 40-grit or 60-grit pad for stripping.

Will this fit my 15-inch floor polisher?

No. This pad is exactly 13 inches in diameter. If you put it on a 15-inch machine, the edges of the hard drive board will be exposed and will permanently gouge and damage your floor. You must use it on a 13-inch machine.

How do I attach this pad to the machine?

Sanding pads are typically placed flat on the floor, and the floor polisher is lowered onto them using a specialized 'Pad Drive Board'. The grip face of the drive board bites firmly into the back of the sanding pad to spin it.

Will this remove black scuff marks from vinyl floors?

Absolutely NOT. You should NEVER use a sandpaper pad of any grit on vinyl, linoleum, or delicate tiles. It will instantly scratch the glossy protective layer and permanently destroy the floor. Use standard colored poly/nylon scrubbing pads for vinyl.

Do I use this pad wet or dry?

Timber sanding pads must be used completely dry. Using water on raw timber will raise the grain (making the wood rough again) and will turn the fine sanding dust into a thick mud that ruins the pad.

How do I know when the pad is worn out?

When the fine abrasive grit feels completely smooth to the touch, or if the pad no longer produces fine sawdust when spinning over raw timber, the abrasive has worn away and it is time to use a fresh pad.

Will this fit the Cleanstar Polystar PS002?

Yes, absolutely. This 13-inch sanding pad is specifically engineered and recommended for use with the Cleanstar Polystar 13-Inch Floor Polisher (PS002).

Can I use this to sand my outdoor deck?

Yes! Running a 13-inch polisher with a 120-grit pad is an exceptionally fast and effective way to give raw outdoor timber decking a final, splinter-free smoothing before applying decking oil.

Do I need to vacuum after using this?

Yes, using a 120-grit pad generates extremely fine, microscopic sawdust. You must thoroughly vacuum the floor using a commercial vacuum with a HEPA filter, and wipe it with a tack cloth, to remove all dust before applying sealants.

Does fine grit last longer than coarse grit?

Generally, fine grit pads wear out slightly faster because the abrasive particles are much smaller and can clog with dust more easily. Ensuring your floor is free of sticky wax before using this pad will maximize its lifespan.

Do you offer trade pricing for floor restoration businesses?

Yes, Freshway Supplies provides highly competitive volume pricing and trade accounts for professional floor sanders, commercial cleaners, and facility managers outfitting their fleets. Contact us to establish your account.
