Product Description

Agar Tap In Cap for 20L Drum (DTC20) – Chemical Drum Tap

Instantly eradicate catastrophic chemical spills, guarantee absolute safety for your janitorial staff, and drastically slash consumable waste with the highly efficient Agar Tap In Cap for 20L Drum (DTC20). In fast-paced commercial kitchens, industrial wash bays, and bustling contract cleaning headquarters, attempting to manually pour highly concentrated, corrosive degreasers and heavy floor strippers from massive, 20-kilo plastic drums into small 5-Litre jugs is a severe OH&S hazard. It guarantees highly dangerous, toxic chemical splashes, ruins concrete floors, and wastes incredibly expensive product. This premium chemical drum tap acts as the ultimate safety solution. Designed to screw securely onto standard 20L commercial chemical drums, it completely seals the container and allows operators to dispense highly volatile liquids safely and effortlessly without ever physically lifting the heavy drum.

Engineered for unparalleled durability and industrial longevity, this heavy-duty 'Tap in Cap' kit delivers absolute dispensing control. The integrated rotary tap allows the operator to regulate the exact flow of the liquid, from a slow trickle for filling small 500ml spray bottles, to a fast, heavy pour for filling massive 5L containers. Manufactured from highly durable, chemical-resistant commercial polymers, it is completely immune to degradation from standard harsh detergents, alkaline degreasers, and acidic bathroom sanitizers. Whether you are outfitting a massive hospital janitorial closet or standardizing an industrial workshop, this essential 20L dispensing tap is the absolute cornerstone of a safe, highly economical chemical management system.

Who Is The Agar 20L Drum Tap Ideal For?

This heavy-duty 20L dispensing tap delivers controlled pouring and leak-resistant reliability. It is highly recommended for:

Commercial Cleaning Contractors: Utilizing a highly accurate chemical drum tap in the main supply closet to ensure staff can safely decant thick floor strippers from massive 20L bulk drums into smaller, daily-use 5L bottles without spilling a drop.
Hospitality & Commercial Kitchens: Relying on the spill-free dispensing to safely draw concentrated dishwashing liquids and heavy-duty oven degreasers without risking toxic splashes on food preparation floors.
Industrial & Automotive Workshops: Guaranteeing safe, highly controlled dispensing of massive volumes of aggressive engine degreasers and heavy truck wash concentrates directly into pressure washer soap tanks.
Facility Managers: Securing every 20-Litre drum with a 20L dispensing tap to completely eliminate the severe OH&S liability of staff suffering massive back injuries from constantly lifting and pouring 20-kilo liquid drums.

Key Features and Performance Benefits:

Fast, Controlled Dispensing: The ultimate dilution tool. The rotary tap valve allows the operator to completely control the speed of the liquid flow. It completely eradicates the dangerous 'glugging' and violent splashing associated with pouring from an open drum.
Eliminates Lifting & Severe Spills: A full 20L drum weighs over 20 kilograms. Attempting to pour from it causes severe wrist and back strain. This tap allows you to lay the heavy drum safely on its side on a rack and dispense effortlessly into a bucket below.
Complete 3-Piece Kit: Arrives ready for instant deployment. The kit includes the massive black screw cap with a threaded center hole, the heavy-duty tap unit itself, and a replacement bung to ensure a flawless, 100% airtight seal against the drum.
Universal Agar 20L Compatibility: Highly versatile engineering. The large black screw cap is specifically designed to perfectly fit the standard neck threads of Agar's massive 20-Litre commercial chemical drums.
Commercial Chemical Resistance: Forged from high-grade polymers that easily survive continuous, prolonged exposure to harsh alkaline degreasers, thick liquid soaps, and aggressive commercial disinfectants without melting or seizing.

Frequently Asked Questions

How does the 'Tap in Cap' actually work?

You remove the original shipping cap from your 20L drum. You take the large black cap from this kit and screw the smaller tap into its center hole. Then, you screw this entire completed assembly tightly onto the 20L drum. You can now lay the drum on its side on a shelf and use the tap to pour the liquid out like a water cooler.

Will this tap fit my 5-Litre bottle?

No. The main black screw cap is massively wide and features threads explicitly engineered to fit the extremely wide neck of a 20-Litre commercial drum. It will be vastly too big for a standard 5L bottle.

Is this tap safe for highly concentrated bleach?

While the heavy-duty plastic is highly chemical resistant, leaving raw, concentrated commercial bleach (sodium hypochlorite) sitting inside any tap mechanism for months will eventually degrade the internal rubber O-rings. If the tap starts dripping, it must be replaced.

Can I use this for incredibly thick liquid hand soap?

Yes! The internal valve is highly robust and features a wide enough orifice to perfectly flow thick, viscous liquids like commercial hand soaps, heavy dishwashing liquids, and concentrated laundry detergents without seizing.

Does it leak if the drum is left on its side?

When the tap is turned completely to the 'closed' position, the internal seals prevent the liquid from leaking out. However, you must ensure you have screwed both the tap into the cap, and the cap onto the drum, extremely tightly to prevent seepage from the threads.

Why is the liquid coming out really slowly?

If you lay a 20L drum on its side and open the tap, the liquid will glug and flow slowly because a vacuum is forming inside the drum. To fix this, you must puncture a tiny 'breather hole' in the top corner of the plastic drum (facing the ceiling) to let air in while the liquid flows out.

Can I reuse this tap when the drum is empty?

Absolutely. When your 20L drum is finally empty, you simply unscrew the entire Tap and Cap assembly, thoroughly wash it out under hot running water in a sink, and screw it onto your brand new 20L drum.

What is the 'Replacement Bung' included in the kit for?

Some 20L drums have a secondary, smaller bung (plug) hole on the top. If your original bung is lost or damaged, this kit provides a replacement to ensure the drum remains completely airtight when you stand it back up.

Is the tap handle difficult to turn?

Not at all. The rotary tap is highly ergonomic. It requires very little physical force to turn, allowing cleaners to easily open and close the valve with a single hand while holding a spray bottle underneath it.

Can I use it to pour flammable solvents or petrol?

Absolutely NOT. This tap is strictly engineered for water-based commercial cleaning chemicals. Dispensing highly flammable solvents (like acetone or petrol) through a plastic tap is a catastrophic fire hazard and will melt the plastic instantly.

Will this cap fit other brands of 20L drums?

While there is a high degree of standardization in the chemical industry, thread pitches can vary slightly between manufacturers. This DTC20 cap is specifically guaranteed to fit the threads of Agar-branded 20L drums. It may fit others, but a perfect seal is not guaranteed.

They earned it! I hardly ever leave reviews, but Abe absolutely deserves this one.

I rang ready to spend nearly $2,000. Unfortunately, the item wasn’t in stock for pickup and would take seven days to arrive. Abe said he’d call me back.

Five minutes later, he had found one in stock at another business in Parramatta — and negotiated the same discount for me there.
He had just lost the sale, yet he was genuinely happy he could help. That says everything.

This is how an excellent reputation is earned: day by day, customer by customer. Could not possibly ask for more.

Thank you, Abe — AWESOME service!
