Actichem Polyprop Plus (Olefin Carpet Prespray) - AP986

Overcome the unique challenges of cleaning polypropylene commercial carpets with Actichem Polyprop Plus (AP986). Polypropylene (Olefin) is an inherently hydrophobic fiber, meaning it repels water but acts like a magnet for heavy oils, atmospheric pollutants, and greasy traffic-lane soils. Standard carpet detergents struggle to penetrate this oily barrier, often leading to dull, grey results and severe post-cleaning 'wick-back'. This specialized olefin carpet prespray is engineered with advanced soil-release agents that specifically target, suspend, and release severe oil-based contamination from polypropylene fibers.

Unlike traditional industrial degreasers that rely on aggressively high alkalinity (which can chemically damage fibers and void warranties), Polyprop Plus operates at a carefully controlled pH of 10.5. This low-alkaline, fiber-conscious formulation provides immense restorative cleaning power while drastically reducing fiber stress. Highly effective against black filtration lines around skirting boards and greasy foot-traffic soils, this double-strength commercial carpet cleaning chemical is an essential problem-solver for professional cleaners managing commercial office buildings and fire damage remediation projects.

Ideal For:

  • Commercial Office Buildings: Olefin is the most common fiber used in commercial carpet tiles. This prespray is specifically designed to restore these carpets to their original brightness by breaking the heavy bond of oily foot-traffic dirt.
  • Filtration Soiling Removal: Exceptionally effective at breaking down the stubborn, black atmospheric dust lines (filtration soiling) that commonly build up around air conditioning vents and skirting boards on synthetic carpets.
  • Fire Damage Remediation: The specialized oil-targeting chemistry aggressively suspends and removes heavy, oily soot and smoke contamination from synthetic fibers after fire events.

Key Features & Operational Benefits:

  • Olefin-Specific Soil Release: Formulated to counteract the oil-attracting nature of polypropylene fibers, breaking down greasy contamination at the molecular level for rapid, single-pass wand extraction.
  • Prevents Wick-Back & Greying: Thoroughly removes the heavy oils that standard cleaners leave behind, preventing the post-cleaning 'greying' effect and stopping deep stains from wicking back to the surface as the carpet dries.
  • Fiber-Conscious Chemistry (pH 10.5): Delivers the heavy-duty degreasing power of a high-pH stripper, but safely utilizes a controlled pH to prevent chemical burning and fiber degradation.
  • Double-Strength Economy: Highly concentrated for professional use; diluting at up to 1:64 in pump-up sprayers, ensuring exceptional cost-per-use value for large commercial contracts.

What is Olefin (Polypropylene) carpet?

Olefin (Polypropylene) is a highly durable, synthetic carpet fiber used predominantly in commercial carpet tiles and low-loop office carpets. Because it is manufactured from petroleum by-products, it naturally repels water but strongly attracts oil and grease, making it notoriously difficult to clean with standard detergents.

Why do I need a specific prespray for Olefin?

Standard presprays are water-based and cannot easily penetrate the oily barrier that olefin creates. Polyprop Plus contains specialized soil-release solvents that break this oily bond, allowing the extraction machine to actually wash the dirt away rather than just moving it around.

What is 'Filtration Soiling'?

Filtration soiling refers to the dark, greasy black lines that appear around the edges of carpets (near skirting boards) or under doors. It is caused by oily atmospheric dust being forced into the carpet by HVAC air pressure. Polyprop Plus is specifically engineered to dissolve these stubborn black lines.

How do I dilute this for a standard pump-up sprayer?

For standard commercial soil, dilute Polyprop Plus at a ratio of 1:32 to 1:64. This equates to mixing approximately 15ml to 30ml of chemical per 1 Litre of water in your pressure sprayer.

How do I use it with a Hydroforce inline sprayer?

If using a standard Hydroforce sprayer with a 1:9 (Yellow) metering tip, add 750ml to 1.4 Litres of Polyprop Plus into the 5L container and fill the rest with water. If using a 1:32 (Brown) tip, pour the chemical directly into the container neat.

What does 'Wick-Back' mean?

Wick-back occurs when deep, oily stains that weren't fully removed travel up the wet carpet fiber during the drying process, reappearing on the surface the next day. By thoroughly breaking down the oil, Polyprop Plus prevents this from happening.

What should I rinse the carpet with after applying this?

Because olefin carpets are prone to rapid re-soiling if left sticky, it is highly recommended to extract and rinse the carpet using an acidic neutralizer (like Actichem Rinse Pro). This neutralizes the pH and leaves the fibers completely clean and crisp.

Can I use this on wool carpets?

No. This product has an alkaline pH of 10.5 and contains chemistry designed specifically for synthetic olefin. Using it on natural wool can cause permanent browning and fiber damage.
