How to choose the right lawn mower?

Whether you have a small lawn or a sprawling stretch of land covered with grass, you need to have a lawnmower so as to keep the grass trimmed and looking neat and healthy. However, choosing the right lawn mower becomes tricky for most people because of the availability of so many different types of lawn mowers in the market. There are many factors to consider while buying a lawnmower such as the size of the lawn, your budget, manual, riding, and so on. As a lawnmower is a major investment, it makes sense to do some research before buying one from the market. This article attempts to make it easier for a lawn owner to choose the right lawn mower.

If the size of your lawn is small, you must opt for a manual lawnmower which is not powered and you have to push it along to trim the grass in your lawn. Of course you stand to save a lot as these lawnmowers are available for a mere $50-$150 in the market. However, if you are a lazy person and let the size of the grass grow big, a non powered lawnmower may not be the right machine for you as the blade becomes blunt trying to cut thick and long grass. Cut the grass frequently and these machines keep serving you for a long time to come. Just make sure you get the blades of these lawnmowers sharpened occasionally. If you are young and fit enough to push the lawn mower along to cut the grass in your lawn, it is better to go with a non powered lawn mower.

If the size of grassy land you own is large, it makes no sense to sweat it out and put in so much of manual labor when there are powered push mowers and riding mowers available in the market. While there are electrical and battery powered push mowers available, people also make use of petrol powered lawn mowers as they are not only powerful, they free one from the need to carry the power cord along and the need to remain near to the electrical source. These lawn mowers are available for $300-$700 in the market and one can choose depending upon his liking and features available in the model. Of course if you are a housewife and find pulling cord to start the engine in cold mornings a tough job, it is better to opt for an electrically operated push lawn mower.

If you have a large lawn area and you can also afford, you must buy a riding mower that cuts the grass in a jiffy and also does not require any effort on your part. You move along sitting on the vehicle just like you drive a car. These mowers are however expensive and think of these vehicles only if you are ready to invest a large sum of money. The cheapest ride on mowers are available for around $2500 while the most expensive ones can be anywhere around $15000.
